Medina County Planning to take on $11 million in additional debt
Medina County Commissioners Court is planning to authorize $11 million in Certificates of Obligation, on August 24, 2026. The funds are not related in any way to the general budget and are for improvements to the County Courthouse and other County facilities, streets, drainage, sidewalks, utilities, landscaping, and related professional and financing costs.
The County currently reports $22.945 million in outstanding principal debt, requiring approximately $27.98 million in principal and interest to repay. The $11 million issuance is will add an additional $17.11 million in principal and interest, with final maturity February 1, 2050. Payment would be supported by County Property Taxes and a limited pledge of revenues from the County library system. I wonder how much profit will come from overdue library books?
